Our week days have been pretty hectic lately. Bunbun’s homework load has increased slightly, which means less time spent doing the things we need to do. I wish I was one of those moms that could get everything done with minimal time, but I guess my time management skills aren’t as great as they once were. But let’s face it, being a Mom is a lot of work!Continue Reading

Parenting is no joke! I mean, let’s face it…It’s tough work. It’s constant, never-ending work. People often ask me what I do all day since I’m a stay at home mom. That question is usually pretty insulting to me because I think most people have the perception that I sit on the couch and eat ice cream all day. In reality, that is far from the case and truthfully, I’d really like to answer their question with the myriad of things I do day in and day out. Listen, just because I don’t work a 9 to 5, doesn’t mean I sit around all day.Continue Reading

Wow! I can’t believe summer is coming to an end already. I have to admit; I am a little bummed. Most parents are thrilled when school is back in session, but I am always totally less than that. Especially this year. My little guy is headed off to Pre-Kindergarten and I am going to have some serious empty nest issues when he and Bunbun are in school. Thank goodness I have the dogs, right?Continue Reading

One thing that always gets me is seeing Dad’s out with their children. It’s not very often that I see this, but when I do, it genuinely warms my heart. I truly believe that children need their fathers, so seeing them out having ice cream, walking in the park or shopping makes me so happy inside. I realize how lucky I am to have a husband who is so involved with our children. Although he works crazy hours, he always finds time to spend with the kids. And the best part? The kids are totally infatuated with him.Continue Reading

School is out for summer and in just a few short weeks, my first baby will be turning seven. I have no idea where the time has gone. It feels like just yesterday that she was being placed into my arms and we were up every two hours. Although those days were rough, they were some of the best days of my life. I may have been dead tired, but my heart was and still is full of love.Continue Reading

Do you have trouble finding the perfect gift for Dad every year? Are you tired of giving slippers and T-shirts? I swear, it’s like climbing Mt. Everest every year as I search high and low for the perfect gift. I want to get him cool stuff that I know he’ll love but he doesn’t even make it easy for me. I see gadgets and widgets all over and he’s always interested but he can never make his mind up about what he wants! go from store to store and to the mall at least twice. I’ve let the kids choose my Hubby’s gift for the past two years and we’ve ended up with slippers each time and a screwdriver last year, if I’m not mistaken. So, this year, we’ve decided to make a change. Every man is different, mine likes gadgets and cool new tech things, whereas my friend’s partner is more into toy models and puzzles where one year they even chose to turn a picture into a puzzle as a more personal gift for him! It looked so cool and was perfect for him. Another friend of mine uses overstock.getyourcouponcodes.com to find good deals and she suggested looking at coupons for some inspiration. Since then, I use coupons all of the time and use several sites to find the latest deals and get the best savings.

Hey moms! I know it’s tough work being us! And we’re not just mom. We’re employees, playmates, referees, and of course nurses. We have to be ready for anything at any given time! A lot of us also have to juggle our work life with being a parent too. Unfortunately, that sometimes means our own health ends up coming second to that of our family members.
I was speaking to my friend about this just the other day and she told me that although she sometimes worries about needing to take time off work sick, her employer has a fantastic HR department who do their best to ensure that their employees can get access to the healthcare that they need to live a healthy life. It must be so reassuring to have such a positive workplace environment. In line with ACA Compliance recommendations, her employer even pays a generous contribution to her health insurance. If all employers were as generous as that of my friend I genuinely believe that we would all be much healthier!
I was doing some of my own research about ACA compliance after our conversation and I was so fascinated to learn all about the impact it has had on health insurance. It is so worrying to think that there are people out there who do not get the healthcare that they deserve, and sometimes this can be due to a misstep by an employer, so all employers must do more to follow the rules and regulations laid out by the ACA.
Anyway, not everyone is as fortunate as my friend to have an amazing HR team dedicated to the health of its employees on their side so it is important to do everything that you can to stay healthy. That’s why I stay prepared for those sneaky colds and pesky flu bugs! There’s nothing worse than having to care for a sick child when you’re sick yourself. This is why I take every precaution I can to stop my family from getting sick. I saw some information about how sodium ascorbate is beneficial to your immune system so I’m looking into its side effects to see if it’s worth incorporating into our diet. However, kids don’t have as much immunity as us so they’re more likely to be hit by a bug.
I keep a sick kit stocked and on hand at all times! My best friend always says “You never know where you’re going to be!” Especially at 2am when fever strikes or symptoms begin to appear.
My cold and flu sick kit is so easy to put together and the best part is that you can find everything you need at Target! I love how organized their stores are and if I have a hard time finding something on my own, I can just pull up the app on my phone, search for the item I’m looking for and it gives me the aisle number. It’s so convenient for me. Especially when I’m in a rush!
