My little monsters have been quite busy this month! They scoped out the Netflix scene early and quickly began watching Halloween movies. The Buddies series of movies by Disney is one of Bunbun’s favorites and she was quite pleased to find Spooky Buddies in their lineup. The Nightmare Before Christmas is a family tradition of ours. We pop popcorn, grab all of our pillows, a few blankets and cuddle up on the couch. This year, we introduced the kids to The Addams Family, forgetting the content. It may not have been the wisest decision considering their ages, but my hubby and I got a little nostalgic as it reminded us of our childhood.
Spooky Buddies: It’s Halloween and the Buddies go on a school trip to Warwick’s mansion with their owners and get into some spooky action! With the help of their new friends, the puppies work together to save the world.
Bunbun loves all animals, especially cute little puppies, so this movie was a perfect fit for her this Halloween!
Spooky Stories: In this 3-part series of Halloween tales, Shrek and his friends spend the night and tell scary stories in Lord Farquaad’s haunted castle. Shrek battles a ghost, while his friends fight off mutant alien pumpkins and Donkey and Shrek go on an adventure to rescue Fiona from the evil ghost of Lord Farquaad. Finally, Alien presence is detected in Susan Morphy’s town just before Halloween. She and the Monsters are then sent to investigate. Join Shrek and all his friends on their spooky adventures this Halloween!
Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Frankenstein: Well, if this doesn’t bring you back to your childhood, I don’t know what will! I used to love coming home from school to watch afternoon cartoons and getting up early for Saturday morning cartoons.
Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Frankenstein totally brings me back to that! While working at an amusement park in a singing attraction, Alvin and the chipmunks miss their last performance of the night and get locked in the park after closing time. Dr. Frankenstein thinks the castle in his attraction isn’t scary enough and creates the real Frankenstein. The monster finds the boys and they go on one wild adventure! Don’t forget to catch Alvin and the Chipmunks meet Wolfman as well!
The Addams Family: When a man, claiming to be long-lost Uncle Fester arrives at the Addams’ home, they are thrilled! Morticia however, believes that the man is a fake since he cannot remember specific details of Fester’s life. With the help of a lawyer, Fester finds a way to get the Addams family evicted from their home as he attempts to steal their fortune. The family then realizes that Fester is conspiring against their family and they must challenge him.
We watched this as a family and there were some parts we needed to explain to Bunbun. It is best suited for older children, based on it’s rating, but it was nice to watch an old movie so to speak.
The Nightmare Before Christmas: We watch this every year! Yes, it looks creepy, but what Tim Burton movie doesn’t? The kids are so excited for this one year after year. Sally, Jack and Zero are Halloween favorites in our home!
The Nightmare Before Christmas follows Jack Skellington, Halloweentown’s pumpkin kin who is bored with the same ol’ routine of scaring people in the ‘real world’. Jack accidentally stumbles upon Christmastown which is filled with lights, bright colors and warm spirits. He then plots to take Christmas by kidnapping Santa Claus and taking over his role. In this epic adventure, Jack realizes that even with a well thought out plan, this can get a little crazy!
Well, those are our Halloween picks for October! What Halloween favorites are you streaming this month?
